Territorial jurisdiction of Thurnau in the 19th century

During the Napoleonic Wars Thurnau changed hands twice again. After the Peace of Tilsit in 1807 the town fell to France as a part of the Prussian principality of Bayreuth. In 1810 Napoleon handed the entire principality over to the Kingdom of Bavaria. Nevertheless, the Counts of Giech retained the so-called patrimonial court until the revolution of 1848. This included the lower jurisdiction (dealing with lesser offenses of everyday life) and the patronage right (among other things, the right to fill parishes).
